Terrarium Care Instructions

Congratulations!

You are now in the care of your very own closed terrarium! As the caretaker of this mini ecosystem, it is important to make sure your plant is living its best life by following these simple care instructions.

Light is important for your plant, but too much light will cook it! Keep your terrarium out of direct sunlight. The heat will be trapped inside, keeping it a perfect temperature all year round! Instead of sunlight, use a grow lamp. Place your terrarium under a grow lamp or led light source for 6 - 8 hours a day. This will allow your plants in your terrarium to create photosynthesis.

You won't need to water your terrarium too often, if at all. The moss inside retains lots of moisture, and the humidity inside will keep the plants watered for a long time. However, it DOES need air. Make sure to open the jar of your terrarium once a month for at least twenty minutes to allow air to circulate. Pro Tip, while you wait for 20 minutes for air circulation. This also allows for excess water to evaporate, leading to a more balanced ecosystem. Too much condensation can lead to overwatering!

Remove any dead moss and plant matter right away, especially during the first four weeks. Leaving them to decompose might allow for fungal growth or bacteria to develop, and that's no good! If you see mold, wipe it away using 3% hydrogen peroxide and a clean cotton swab. A light misting of chamomile tea also works as chamomile is a natural fungicide!
